The camera connector kit won't work to import video from iPhone to iPad. Currently, I have to shoot video from a camera that works with the camera connection kit for iPad since that is the only way to get video into the photo roll at present. Please tell me I'm missing something elegant, if not obvious? Most apps that use video (including Apple's own iMovie, for frack's sake) can only open and access movies located in the photos app.I don't want to have to remember which vids are in Photos, vs. I like having things organized in one place. Why do I care, if I can access it and even watch it as described above? Two reasons: But I can't save it to photos from Dropbox on the iPad If it's under 180MB, I can upload it to Dropbox from the source device (iPhone for me) and then access or watch it on the destination device (iPad for me).You can open it in vlc, good reader, etc. If it's short, or I'm willing to clip it, I can email it to myself, but unlike photos, clicking on a video enclosure doesn't allow you to save it to the native app. Now, there are many ways to transfer and watch the the video, but I can't find a single darn way to save it with my other videos and photos: (In my use case, I was literally trying to get a video I took on my iPhone, that lives in my iPhone photos/video gallery, onto my iPad, so this isn't about conversions or codecs.) The first thing I always do is rip a CD to the computer for this reason.Let's start by assuming that I have a perfectly compatible file. On the computer I can set parts to loop if I'm having trouble with a section much easier. Thanks, and I'm glad your book is doing well, you deserve it! I'd definitely recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn or get better!Īs far as the audio being online, I actually prefer this! It is much easier for me to play the file on my computer while i'm learning than in CD form, as a CD will scratch and go bad, as well as skip if the same section is played over and over again. I also love the variety of songs you include, though other books do this the songs you chose are much nicer, and are good examples of the material taught in each section. I've bought several mandolin books recently, and all of them feel incomplete and seem more like they focus on the songs than teaching, but yours has the missing pieces I was wanting, and is much more comprehensive! Another I like about your book is when I'm at college and killing time between classes I can read your book, because it has good music theory information that I don't need the mandolin to understand. I've been having trouble with some of the basic music theory (I've always played instruments by ear and for me it makes it hard to learn theory) and your book is written perfect for me, just browsing it today I've learned things I've had trouble finding clarity on, and I finally have thanks to you!. The following two zipped files contain many songs including old-time fiddle tunes, blues, rags, jazz, Irish, Brazilian and even Dawg tunes.ĭon Julin, I just got your book in the mail today, and although I'm typically not a fan of the "for dummies" style books, yours is excellent. The first zipped file (tracks 1-30) are techniques including basic counting, strumming patterns, left and right hand exercises, etc. If you do not yet have the book you may want to download the audio to get a peek inside. When you find something that catches your ear, go to that lesson and read the text and use the sheet music/tab to learn the tune. they are not only very useful in learning the material, they allow you to browse through the entire book by ear. If you have the book, I highly suggest you download these tracks. I have named the audio tracks and uploaded them to a public folder in my dropbox. Another issue is that the titles for each track are not listed in the mp3s. (2 hours of audio) The link is included in the book but some people have had a hard time finding it. The publisher made the decision based on cost and sheer amount of audio content. Many people have contacted me regarding the fact that the audio needs to be downloaded instead of including a cd in the book. It is currently the #3 mandolin book on Amazon and rising. First, I would like to thank the mandolin community for making "Mandolin For Dummies" a success.
